Horizon Europe is the world’s largest research and innovation collaboration program, with a budget of €95.5 billion ($140 billion CDN) between 2021-2027. More than €53 billion ($77 billion CDN) has been allocated to Pillar II. The budget for Cluster 1 is €8.246 billion.
The program fosters opportunities for international collaboration and strengthens the impact of research and innovation in tackling major global challenges, like climate change.
Recently, the Government of Canada completed negotiations with the European Commission to join Horizon Europe as an associate country under Pillar II. Associate membership allows researchers at Canadian institutions to participate in applications to Pillar II calls for proposals and receive funding from Horizon Europe if the applications are successful.
Cluster I: Health aims to promote well-being and protect human health in every aspect. It will reduce the burden of diseases and disabilities on people and communities, giving the impulse to societies to adopt a more prevention minded approach, enhancing and creating new health care systems in their efforts towards an equal access to innovation in the health sector.
Hosted by McMaster Research Office for Administration, Development & Support (ROADS), this information session will feature Christina Pellegrini, Horizon Europe Program Lead, who will provide an overview of the program, a deeper dive into Cluster 1: Health, and the application process at McMaster.
