Health, Safety And Well-Being
Workplace well-being relates to all aspects of your work life at McMaster from the health and safety of your physical environment to workplace wellness. McMaster University provides programs and services to help employees lead healthier lives, in and out of the workplace. Environmental & Occupational Health Support Services (EOHSS) is a team of health, safety and risk management specialists committed to supporting the University’s commitment to creativity, innovation and excellence, and strives to achieve these standards in the areas of environmental and occupational health, safety, loss prevention and mitigation. EOHSS staff also act as consultants to local Joint Health and Safety Committees.
Joint Health And Safety Committees
Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSC) are groups of management and labour representatives who meet regularly to discuss health and safety issues on McMaster University’s main campus and off campus locations. Committee members conduct regular inspections of all McMaster work areas to help better identify any safety-related issues that need to be addressed. JHSCs also make recommendations to Senior Management regarding the identification and control of hazards. These recommendations include building improvements, procedure implementation, training requirements, policies and programs. Members of the Faculty of Science Joint Health and Safety Committee can help with your questions and concerns about health and safety on campus.
