Normally, one (1) prize is awarded each year, on a competitive basis, in each of the following five (5) disciplines:
- humanities

- engineering
An individual may receive this award only once in a lifetime.
Each year, the National Killam Program Office will notify the prize recipients by telephone and in writing before the end of February. It may also notify other nominators in writing, at their discretion, of the result of their nomination by the end of March. Except for notifying prize recipients, the National Killam Program Office will not contact nominees.
NOMINATION PROCESS
Potential nominators/nominees at McMaster who are interested in nominating a fellow McMaster researcher or being nominated for the Killam Prize are required to first contact their Faculty’s Associate Dean, Research to discuss their prospective nomination and complete the internal/OVPR Notice of Intent (NOI) form.
